Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens Party, said, "We do not speak against any party, we speak against the old settlement. Those who want to maintain the mafia system and extortion will no longer be accepted by the people. This young generation does not believe in electoral division. We have said that state reform and country reconstruction must be carried out."
He said all these things at a road meeting in Bagerhat on Saturday as part of the 'July March to Build the Nation' program.
Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens Party, said, "We held a mass uprising against the mafia, corruption, and extortion system. We have not yet been able to eliminate extortion and corruption. That is why we have come again, you should trust us. We will change this extortionist and corrupt system, this is our promise to the martyrs." He also said that the July Charter must be implemented. It must be done within the months of July-August.
Addressing the police administration, Nahid Islam said, "The police administration must stand on the side of the people and against the extortionists. If they behave like a partisan administration, then remember that those who were partisan during fascism will face the same fate as you."
Sheikh Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the Jatiya Nagorik Party, said, "Hasina has fled Bangladesh but her system remains. A person was stoned to death in Dhaka for extortion. Now there is a siege in Rampal. Some fugitive leaders want to take over the siege."
Akhtar Hossain further said, "If anyone wants to do politics of encroachment, extortion, robbery, commission, the people of the country will send them away the same way they sent away Sheikh Hasina." He said that an international conspiracy is going on regarding Mongla Port.
Stating that reforms are needed in all areas to ensure that there are no disappearances or murders in the future of Bangladesh, Akhtar Hossain said, "One party thinks that all reforms will be completed only after elections. Sheikh Hasina also thought so. If institutions are not reformed and the police are not made neutral, it is not possible to establish democracy through elections alone. Therefore, elections should be held only after reforms."
