The administration imposed curfew on Wednesday following a series of attacks and clashes surrounding a National Citizens Party (NCP) march and rally in Gopalganj. Amid the curfew, joint forces conducted a drive on Wednesday night and arrested 14 people. They have been handed over to Gopalganj Sadar Police Station. However, no case has been filed in the incident yet, said Gopalganj Sadar Police Station OC Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman.
Meanwhile, the ongoing curfew has created a tense atmosphere in the district. Although rickshaws have been operating on a limited scale since last night, no other vehicles have been seen operating, and businesses have been closed. No one has been allowed to go out except for essential needs. Law enforcement officers were not seen in the city at night.
It can be said that there has been no movement of people on the streets, ghats, markets and markets since Thursday morning. Businesses are closed. There is no activity of law enforcement members during the curfew. There is no patrolling either. However, law enforcement is deployed in front of the district jail.
