A young man named Saikat Hossain (19) has been accused of stabbing a schoolgirl in Bogra after she did not respond to his love proposal. The girl's grandmother and sister-in-law were killed on the spot in the stabbing. The incident took place at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday in Islampur Harigari area of Ward No. 14 of Bogra city.
The deceased were identified as Laili Begum (65), wife of the deceased Abdul Quddus of the area, and Habiba Yasmin (21), wife of grandson Parvez Hossain. The injured person was a class 10 student of a school in the city. Police arrested the accused Saikat immediately after the incident.
According to police and locals, Saikat had been harassing the girl for a long time. Last night, he went to the girl's house and stabbed her. When she tried to protect the girl, Saikat stabbed her grandmother and sister-in-law and fled.
Bogra Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Basir said the accused Saikat has been arrested. Local people rescued the injured and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Laili Begum and Habiba Yasmin dead.
Hospital Deputy Director Abdul Wadud said that the bodies of the two deceased bore multiple marks of sharp weapons. The teenager underwent surgery. Her condition is critical. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
