The institution authorities have formed a six-member committee to assess the actual number of casualties and prepare a list of names and addresses of the injured, dead and missing after an Air Force fighter jet crashed on the permanent campus of Milestone School and College in Diyabari, Uttara. Although accurate information could not be immediately confirmed due to the severity of the accident, many people inside the school were injured. In such a situation, the committee formed on Tuesday (July 23) with Principal Mohammad Ziaul Alam as the chairman has been asked to submit a full report within three working days.
Other members of the committee are Vice Principal (Administration) Md. Masud Alam, Headmistress Khadija Akhter, Coordinator Lutfunnesa Lopa, Parent Representative Moniruzzaman Molla (Student: Zaima Jahan, Class IV) and two Class XII students—Maruf Bin Ziaur Rahman and Md. Bhasnim Bhuiyan Pratik. The committee has been instructed by the school authorities to directly visit the scene, communicate with the concerned families and prepare a list after verifying the confirmed information.
Sources said that the committee's report will not only be used for internal management but will also be handed over to the government, rescue agencies and other supporting authorities if necessary. The notification of the formation of the committee, signed by the principal, has already been sent to the concerned through e-mail and the members have started working accordingly.
In addition, apart from this committee, administrative officials are reportedly working separately to monitor the overall aspects of the accident, rescue and medical assistance, infrastructure damage, and safety deficiencies.
It is worth noting that an Air Force fighter jet crashed into the primary branch of Milestone School and College on Monday afternoon (July 21). Many students were injured in the incident. A state mourning was observed the next day after this tragic incident.
