A Biman Bangladesh flight from Dubai encountered a technical fault after departing from Chittagong for Dhaka. Due to this, the flight returned to Chittagong.
The flight landed safely at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong at 8:58 am on Thursday (July 24).
It is learned that Biman Bangladesh flight BG-148 arrived in Chittagong from Dubai, United Arab Emirates at 7:15 am on Thursday. The plane with 287 passengers departed for Dhaka at 8:37 am. However, the plane developed a mechanical fault after takeoff. Due to this, the plane changed course and returned to Chittagong.
Shah Amanat International Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil told that the plane, which returned due to a technical fault, has landed safely in Chittagong. The plane is at Bay Number 8 of the airport. The passengers of the flight are safe.
Chittagong Airport sources said that the landing gear of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner model aircraft was not working after taking off from Chittagong. The landing gear door was not closed, which was consuming extra fuel. In this situation, it was decided to land in Chittagong fearing that the flight would not be able to reach Dhaka.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has a total of six Boeing-787 Dreamliner aircraft in its fleet. Of these, four Boeing 787-8 and two Boeing 787-9 aircraft operate to various domestic and international destinations.
