It was 8:00 PM. A blue prison van whistled and entered the main gate of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court through the Raisaheb Bazar intersection in Old Dhaka.
Seeing the prison van entering, the leaders of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum started chanting slogans demanding the punishment of former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque. The prison van quickly entered the CMM Court's jail in Dhaka. When former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque was in the court's jail, the leaders of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum started a procession in front of the jail demanding his punishment.
Then, Tarek Zubair, the Chief Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Prosecution Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, entered the main gate of the CMM court. He gave strict instructions to the police members that no one should cause any untoward incident. All the entrance gates to the court were closed.
Army members took up positions in front of the court. Former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque was then taken out of the jail. He was taken to the courthouse steps through a road inside the courthouse, instead of through the road in front of the courthouse.
It was then seen that former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque had his hands behind his back and was handcuffed. He was wearing a police bulletproof jacket. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants. He had leather sandals on his feet. Two policemen from the ground floor held his arms. Later, he walked up the stairs to the third floor of the courthouse, leaning on the arms of the two policemen. Later, he was taken to the dock. While he was standing in the dock, a policeman took the initiative to untie the handcuffs that were tied behind his back. The former Chief Justice had his head down. Then a policeman untied his handcuffs. At that time, the handcuffs were hanging from the right hand of the former Chief Justice. He stood in the middle of the dock with his head down. At least one hundred leaders and activists of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum were present in the court at that time. There were also lawyers for the state.
It was 8:10 pm. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) of Dhaka's CMM Court Md. Chanaullah Khas came to the courtroom from the room. Former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque glanced at the magistrate. Then he stood with his head bowed.
ABM Khairul Haque, the first former Chief Justice in Bangladesh's history, was arrested this morning from the capital's Dhanmondi. He was later taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch office.
