BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "A businessman who used to have to pay a bribe of three lakh taka is now having to pay a bribe of five lakh taka. There is no good governance and control anywhere. There has been no change in the police."
He made the remarks at the launch and discussion of the book 'Economic Governance and Power: A Narrative of a Lived Life' written by Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman. Hossain Zillur Rahman presided over the event at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital. Financial Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest.
Mirza Fakhrul said, it is not possible to implement reforms overnight. It will take time. However, we cannot sit back and ignore democratic practices. It will not be right to impose anything. For this, we must go through the democratic process very quickly without any delay. We must send the people's representatives to parliament and carry out reforms through democratic means.
He said, "Trump's tariffs could pose a big danger ahead. Remember, political parties will always play a positive role in the development of the country and in the public interest."
