The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has submitted its income and expenditure account for the 2024 calendar year to the Election Commission (EC). In 2024, the party's income was 156.5 million 94 thousand 842 taka. And its expenditure was 48.0 million 4 thousand 823 taka. Currently, the party has 108.5 million 90 thousand 19 taka deposited in its fund.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made this announcement after submitting the income and expenditure accounts to Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed at the Election Building on Sunday (July 27) morning.

Rizvi said that the income came from monthly subscriptions from members, book sales, bank interest, and one-time donations. The expenses were for personal assistance, disaster relief assistance, program implementation, printing of leaflets, posters, etc.

He said, "Earlier, the Election Commission had lost its institutional independence, was under the executive branch, became a weapon of fascism, and conducted daytime voting at night. The commission legitimized a rigged election. In addition, the EC was formed with spineless, job-hungry people."

Rizvi said, the Election Commission had become a subordinate institution of Sheikh Hasina. The expectation from the current Election Commission is that they will play a responsible role. They will create an environment for free, fair and inclusive elections. They will prevent any conspiracy regarding the elections. The Election Commission will be an institution of trust, BNP expects this.
