Recently, five young men went to the house of former MP Shammi Ahmed from the reserved women's seat and demanded a ransom of Tk 50 lakh by posing as coordinators. Since the former MP was absconding, this ransom was demanded from her husband. A few days ago, they went to that house and brought Tk 10 lakh. Then they went to that house again to bring gold ornaments. At that time, the people of the house informed the police, and five people, including Riyad, who were posing as coordinators, were arrested and brought to the police station. In this incident, Shammi Ahmed's husband Siddiq Abu Zafar filed a case with Gulshan Police Station, accusing six people of extortion. The police sought a 10-day remand of the accused in the case. After the hearing, Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Ziadur Rahman granted them a seven-day remand.
