The interim government has announced that the July Declaration will be presented to the nation on August 5 in the presence of all parties to the popular uprising.
This information was given in a message sent from the Chief Advisor's Press Wing on Saturday (August 2) afternoon.
It said that the interim government has finalized the draft of the July Declaration. The July Declaration will be presented to the nation at 5 pm on August 5 in the presence of all parties to the mass uprising. Details on this will be announced immediately.
Incidentally, after the mass uprising of the students and the public, an interim government was formed in the country, whose main mandate was to implement various structural reforms of the state and fulfill the long-standing aspirations of the people. In this context, the July Declaration is being considered a very important document.
The interim government has already finalized the draft of the July declaration. A copy of the draft has been sent to the three main political parties - BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens Party (NCP) - for their comments.
Responsible government sources said that Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will release it any day between August 5th.
The draft declaration, prepared with utmost care to avoid any kind of controversy, has 26 points. The draft begins by stating that the July mass uprising took place at the call of the anti-discrimination student movement. The draft initially stated that the uprising took place 'under the leadership' of the anti-discrimination student movement.
The declaration recognizes the struggle of opposition parties including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami during the 15-year rule of three consecutive terms after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to power for the second time. In addition, based on the BNP's opinion, the Sepoy Revolution of November 7, 1975, and the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution brought by President Ziaur Rahman's government in 1979 have been recognized.
