Police have arrested three more people in connection with the public stabbing and throat-slitting of journalist Md. Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur . So far, law enforcement has arrested a total of seven people in this murder case.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Islam said that five people directly involved in the murder were arrested on Friday night. They are Faisal alias Ketu Mizan, his wife Golap Begum, Swadhin, Al Amin and Sumon. Faisal and three others were arrested from Bhabanipur area of Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Al Amin from Turag area of Uttara in the capital and Swadhin from Hotapara area.
Later, the other two accused in the case were also arrested. Md. Faisal Hasan (23), a resident of Panchbaria area of Pabna, and Md. Shah Jalal (32), a resident of Homna police station in Comilla, were arrested by law enforcement from Gafargaon police station in Mymensingh.
Police said that preliminary evidence has been found against all those arrested for their involvement in the murder . Asaduzzamam Tuhin, a Gazipur staff reporter for the daily newspaper Pratidin Kagoj, was hacked to death in public at around 8 pm on Thursday in the Chandana Chowrasta area of the city. A CCTV footage of the murder went viral on Facebook. The killers can be clearly identified in the CCTV footage. Seven of the arrested people participated in the murder.
