After the update, the total number of voters in the country stands at 126.170 million.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed released the list on Sunday (August 10).

He said that the updated voter list was published simultaneously in election offices across the country on Sunday. 45 lakh 71 thousand 216 new voters have been added to the updated voter list.
The secretary said, according to the law, the EC published the voter list on March 2 this year. At that time, there were 123,732,274 voters. In the voter list update process, 45,71,216 people were newly included by going door to door. However, 21,32,590 people were excluded as dead and deleted voters. The final updated voter list will be published on August 31.
He also said that those who will turn 18 by October 31 will also be able to be included in the voter list. This opportunity has been provided in the new law so that new voters do not have to wait a year.
The secretary said that the EC will actually publish a total of three voter lists this year. After the publication on March 2, the lists published on August 31 and October 31 will be published.
Earlier, after the draft voter list was published on Sunday morning, election officials across the country pasted it at designated places. If there is any mistake in the information, there will be a 12-day opportunity to correct it. Applications can be made until August 21 for inclusion of eligible persons, exclusion of names of persons who are deceased or ineligible for inclusion, transfer of voters and any corrections or corrections or omissions.
These applications will be processed by August 24. After completion of other work, the final list will be published on August 31.
