The government will provide loans worth Tk 472.614 crore to 4,985 youth on the occasion of Youth Day. Out of these, 2,534 youth and 2,451 young women will be given these loans, said Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, Director General of the Department of Youth Development.
He gave this information at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday (August 10). Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam was present at the time.
Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman said, National and International Youth Day will be celebrated on August 12 (Tuesday). The activities of the Department of Youth Development are continuing to involve the youth in work-oriented training, self-employment loans, organization-based voluntary and service work with the aim of transforming technology-based youth power into human resources by utilizing the victory of youth after the July mass uprising. The Department of Youth Development is committed to transforming the youth community, who have won the war against discrimination and injustice, into human resources through modern scientific technical training, post-training financial and material support, and about 200,000 youth are engaged in employment and self-employment annually.
The Director General of the Department of Youth Development said, like every year, this year too, awards are being given on National Youth Day in recognition of excellence in youth activities. The Department of Youth Development has trained 271,719 youth between the ages of 18 and 35 in various trades in the past one year. On the occasion of National and International Youth Day, 2,534 youths and 2,451 young women will be given youth loans worth Tk 472.614 crore.
He further said that 1,076 youths have been trained in traffic management and social awareness to work as traffic police assistants to restore road discipline. Youth festival has been celebrated through various programs in Dhaka and other divisions, districts and upazilas. 64 canals or water bodies have been cleaned in 64 districts through the self-employed, entrepreneurs, trainees and voluntary youth organizations of the Department of Youth Development.
