Rain continued in various parts of the country, including the capital, on Thursday morning. It has been raining in the capital for three consecutive days.
The Meteorological Department said that 46 millimeters of rain fell in the capital from 6 am on Wednesday to 6 am on Thursday.
Meteorologist Afroza Sultana of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that rain may decrease in the capital from this afternoon.
A low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Along with this, the monsoon is active again. Together, these two have been causing rain in different parts of the country for about four days.
The rainfall is relatively higher in the coastal areas of the country. Barisal, Khulna and Chittagong divisions have received heavy to very heavy rains in the past few days.
Meanwhile, 440 millimeters of rain was recorded in Feni, Chittagong Division, in 24 hours on Tuesday, the highest rainfall in the area this year.
Meteorologist Afroza Sultana said that the effects of the low pressure have not yet subsided. Due to its influence, rain is still falling in different parts of the country today.
Afroza Sultana told Prothom Alo that the highest rainfall in the country was recorded in Cox's Bazar from 6 am yesterday to 6 am today, 154 millimeters. Apart from this, 120 millimeters of rain was recorded in Maijdi Court in Noakhali, 126 millimeters in Sitakunda, 96 millimeters in Rajshahi, and 91 millimeters in Bhola.
The amount of rain yesterday was less than Tuesday, and the Meteorological Department has said that there may be less rain today than yesterday.
Meteorologist Afroza Sultana said that the rain may decrease in the capital from this afternoon.
According to the website of the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely to occur in many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions by 6 pm today. Rain is likely to occur in some places in Rangpur division. Along with this, moderate to heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in some places across the country. Day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm today says that light to moderate rain is likely in many places in Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Rain is likely in some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions. Along with this, moderate to heavy rain is likely in some places in the country. Day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country.
Rain accompanied by temporary gusty winds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour is likely to occur over some areas of the country today. This has been stated in the weather forecast for the country's inland river ports from 5 am to 1 pm today. The areas are Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar regions. River ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.
