Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed and two others injured in an accident on Malaysia's East Coast Highway. The deceased were identified as Md. Saber Hasan (30), Md. Zahid Hasan (21) and Abdullah (24).
According to a report by the country's local media Berita Harian on Saturday, the accident occurred on the Kuantan Highway in the state of Pahang, Malaysia, at around 7:30 pm local time on Friday (August 1).
Kuantan Acting District Police Chief Superintendent Md. Adli Mat Dawud said the accident occurred at approximately 7:30 pm. A Toyota Avanza car was heading from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur. The casualties occurred when the car suddenly lost control and veered off the left side of the road while driving straight.
Three people were declared dead on the spot after the accident. On the other hand, the two injured people are Md. Habib Biswas (45), Maniram Chandrabas (40). They have been sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for treatment.
Initial police investigations revealed that the driver, Md. Saber Hasan, did not have a valid driving license and the vehicle's road tax had expired since last May.
Police are trying to trace witnesses to the incident and the employers of the deceased and injured. In addition, police will check the mechanical condition of the vehicle through Pushpakam.
Malaysian police have warned people to drive responsibly and to make sure their vehicles are in good condition before travelling, especially at night when driving on highways.
