At least 89 more Palestinians have been killed in a single day in Israeli attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza, bringing the total death toll in the territory from the Israeli aggression to more than 59,500.
More than 450 people were injured at the same time, Anadolu news agency reported in a report on Thursday (July 24) night.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said on Thursday that the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip due to continued Israeli attacks has risen to 59,586, the news agency reported. The ministry also described the war, which began in October 2023, as a “genocidal attack.”
The Health Ministry said in a statement that 89 bodies had been brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours and 453 people had been injured. However, many people were still buried under the rubble or lying on the streets, inaccessible to rescue workers.
Meanwhile, the death toll has risen sharply as 279 people have been identified and added to the official list in the past 24 hours. At the same time, 23 more Palestinians have been killed and more than 68 injured in Israeli attacks while trying to collect humanitarian aid.
The ministry said that since May 27, 1,083 people have been killed and more than 7,275 injured while trying to collect relief supplies alone.
The Israeli army resumed full-scale attacks on March 18 of this year, breaking the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached in January. Since then, another 8,447 people have been killed and 31,457 injured.
In such a situation, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November last year on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
In addition, a genocide case against Israel is ongoing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
