In July, 380 people were killed in 427 road accidents across the country. Another 542 were injured.
This information was given in a report signed by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed.
It says that statistics on these accidents have been collected through the divisional office.
In Dhaka division, 103 people were killed and 151 injured in 113 accidents. In Chittagong division, 89 people were killed and 92 injured in 100 accidents. In Rajshahi division, 53 people were killed and 45 injured in 49 accidents. In Khulna division, 43 people were killed and 50 injured in 44 accidents. In Barisal division, 14 people were killed and 46 injured in 25 accidents. In Sylhet division, 26 people were killed and 99 injured in 30 accidents. In Rangpur division, 38 people were killed and 48 injured in 43 accidents. In Mymensingh division, 14 people were killed and 11 injured in 23 accidents.
A total of 642 vehicle accidents occurred in July. These include 17 motorcars/jeeps, 117 buses/minibuses, 133 trucks/covered vans, 40 pickups, 15 microbuses, 1 ambulance, 116 motorcycles, 9 vans, 6 tractors, 10 easy bikes, 14 battery-powered rickshaws, 37 auto-rickshaws and 127 other vehicles.
A total of 380 people died in these accidents. Of these, 83 died in motorcycle accidents, 85 in other vehicles, 48 in trucks/covered vans, 47 in buses/minibuses, 28 in autorickshaws, 19 in microbuses, 18 in pickups, 17 in vans, 16 in battery-powered rickshaws, 15 in easy bikes, 3 in motorcars/jeeps, and 1 in tractors.
