Another student, Zarif Farhan (13), has died in the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara.
Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed his death on Saturday (July 26) morning.
He said Zarif had burns on about 40 percent of his body. He was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU). He died while undergoing treatment at 9:10 am today.
Zarif was a seventh grade student at Milestone School and College. His father's name was Habibur Rahman and his mother's name was Rasheda Yasmin.
Earlier, two more students—Aiman (10) and Makin (13)—died while undergoing treatment at the Burn Institute on Friday (July 25) morning and afternoon. Aiman had burns to 45 percent of his body and Makin had burns to 70 percent of his body.
According to the latest information as of Saturday morning, the death toll in the plane crash has risen to 34. Nearly fifty injured and burned teachers and students are still undergoing treatment at seven hospitals in the capital. Of the deceased, 16 died at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, 15 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), one at the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH), one at the Lubna General Hospital and Cardiac Center (anonymous) and one at the United Hospital.
Incidentally, on the afternoon of July 21, an Air Force training fighter jet crashed at Milestone School and College in Uttara. This caused a fire in several rooms on the ground floor of a building of the primary branch there. Many students, teachers and guardians were injured in the incident.
