54 Bangladeshis voluntarily returned home from war-torn Lebanon with the cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, Bangladesh Embassy, Beirut, Lebanon and International Organization for Migration (IOM).
On Monday (October 21) at 6 pm, a Saudi Airlines flight repatriated 54 nationals to Bangladesh at full government expense. Another 65 Bangladeshis are scheduled to be repatriated on October 23.
Advisor to the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment welcomed these helpless Bangladeshi citizens at the airport. Asif Nazrul Senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) were also present at the airport. Each of them was provided pocket money of five thousand rupees, some food items and basic medical treatment by IOM.
During the recent war in Lebanon, 1800 expatriate Bangladeshis expressed their desire to return home and completed registration at the Bangladesh Embassy, Beirut. After that, under the guidance of the Chief Adviser, the Foreign Adviser and the Foreign Secretary gave the necessary instructions for the safe return of the Bangladeshis trapped in Lebanon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are working together to arrange the safe repatriation of Bangladeshi citizens from Lebanon.
