The fate of the Champions Trophy was supposed to be decided on Friday. The ICC will hold an emergency meeting today to finalize whether the hybrid model will be the Champions Trophy in Pakistan alone.
Cricket fans were looking forward to what decision comes from the meeting. Does India agree to go to Pakistan or decide to host some matches outside Pakistan?
The cricket lovers were disappointed with the news that finally came. India-Pakistan conflict is not resolved. The discussion was not fruitful. ICC failed to reach a solution. After that, the meeting was forced to be postponed by the world cricket governing body.
India-Pakistan remain steadfast in their position in the meeting. Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi said in no uncertain terms, they will not accept the hybrid model.
On the other hand, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) said that the government is not allowing the cricketers to go to Pakistan. So arrangements should be made in hybrid model.
Amidst the bickering of the representatives of the two countries, the ICC said that today's meeting is over here. Discussions will resume tomorrow. Every effort will be made to break the deadlock on Saturday. If that doesn't work, the decision may eventually come to a vote.
