The White House's official Rapid Response account has released a video that shows Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro "like a criminal being paraded in public," CNN reported.
The video, captioned by Rapid Response 47, reads, "Perp Walked." Maduro, wearing a black hoodie, is seen walking down a corridor with the words "DEA NYD" (Drug Enforcement Agency, New York Division) written on the blue carpet.
The plane carrying Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro landed at Stewart Air National Guard Base, about 70 kilometers from New York City, in the United States. The plane landed at the airbase around 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday.
Video footage released by US media showed officers in FBI uniforms at the door of the plane as Maduro emerged from the plane. He was seen in New York 15 hours after being picked up from the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.
A blurry video footage showed the captured Venezuelan leader wearing a blue jacket and with his face covered as US officials led him down the stairs of the plane. He was surrounded by FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration agents as he disembarked.
Extensive security measures were taken at the Orange County airfield before the plane landed, with US security forces stationed around the plane.
President Donald Trump announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in a "large-scale" raid early Saturday morning. Seven hours later, he released a photo of the captured Maduro, showing him blindfolded, handcuffed and wearing soft gray trousers.
It is worth noting that during Donald Trump's first term in 2020, Maduro was sued in the Southern District Court of New York on charges of conspiracy to import cocaine and related charges.
