US President Donald Trump has threatened another attack on Venezuela if acting President Delcy Rodriguez or officials in her government take a stand against the Trump administration. He also said the attack could be more severe.
"If she (Delcy Rodriguez) doesn't do what she should do, she's going to pay a very big price, probably more than Maduro. We have all the preparations we need to launch a second invasion of Venezuela," Trump said in an interview with the US magazine The Atlantic on Sunday.
"We have to work with some people who have just been sworn in. I hope they will cooperate with us. There will be elections in Venezuela in due time."
"Our position is firm; and that is: we want full control over Venezuela's oil and other resources."
The United States kidnapped President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores in a presidential military operation in the Venezuelan capital Caracas late Saturday night. President Maduro and his wife Cilia are currently being held in a federal prison in New York City, USA.
In an interview, Trump defended Maduro's abduction, saying, "You can call it 'rebuilding Venezuela' or 'regime change' or whatever, but whatever happened was for the better. It's not possible for Venezuela to be in a worse state than it is under Maduro."
