Members of the Bangladeshi community in Ottawa have extended a warm floral reception to Md. Jashim Uddin, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada.
On Tuesday, November 4, community representatives — including Muhammad Lutfar Rahman, Nasir Uddin Parvez, Iqbal Hossain, Abdullah Mashud, Nazrul Islam, and Mahfuz Al Mamun — met the new envoy at the Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa to congratulate him and exchange views during a courtesy meeting.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Jashim Uddin expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s gesture and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Bangladesh–Canada diplomatic relations, while also prioritizing the welfare and engagement of the Bangladeshi diaspora in Canada.
Community representative Lutfar Rahman urged the High Commission to play an active role in implementing the Chief Election Commissioner’s earlier pledge to make the upcoming Bangladesh national election more participatory for expatriates.
Another participant, Abdullah Mashud, requested the High Commission to expedite efforts toward establishing a dedicated High Commission building in Ottawa and to consider reducing the fee for the No Visa Required (NVR) endorsement.
The High Commissioner attentively listened to the delegation’s suggestions and assured them that their proposals would be reviewed for possible implementation.
