Yahya Sinwar, the main leader of the Palestinian independence armed group Hamas, has been killed. He lost his life in the attack of the Israeli forces in Rafah, Gaza, on Wednesday. But the occupying forces did not know that they had killed Sinwar.
Today Thursday (October 17) after various tests, it was confirmed that the head of Hamas was killed in an Israeli attack. In addition, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced his death.
Israeli media Channel-12 reported that Israeli soldiers saw some Hamas fighters enter a building in Rafah, Gaza yesterday. Then orders were given to attack there. After the attack, when the troops went there, they found the dead bodies of three people, including a soldier who looked like Sinwar. Later today it was confirmed that the body belonged to Sinwar.
The media published a photo of the police experiment on micro-blogging site X. It said that Sinwar's teeth and the body's teeth are completely identical.
Two Hamas sources confirmed Sinwar's death to Saudi media outlet Ashrak al-Aswat. Leaders inside and outside Gaza have been informed of Sinwar's death, the sources said.
They also said that everyone lost contact with Sinwar's security guards a few days ago.
Three pictures of Sinwar's dead body went viral on social media. It shows him lying under the rubble of a building. He has a deep wound on his head. Sinwar was wearing a safety vest and a watch at the time.
The British media BBC, after examining the images, said that the body's eye brows, a scar under the eye and teeth were completely identical to Sinwar's earlier photos. Which means it was Sinwar's body.
Israeli media The Times of Israel reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will officially announce Sinwar's death at a press conference.
His family's original residence was in Majdal Askalan. Later the occupying Israel called it Ashkelon. After the creation of Israel by UN vote in 1948, Sinwar's family had to leave Majdal Askalan and move to Khan Yunis, Gaza. They started life there as refugees.
Sinwar spent 22 years of his life in Israeli prisons. Sinwa was arrested in 1988 for taking two Israeli soldiers hostage and killing them. He was released in 2011 through a prisoner exchange deal.
When Sinwar was in prison, the Israeli government observed him, saying he was "ruthless" and "strong". Yahya Sinwar mastered the Hebrew language while imprisoned in an Israeli prison.
In 2017, he became the head of the Gaza branch of Hamas. Then in July of this year, when Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated, he became the main leader of Hamas.
Sinwar was called the "mastermind" of the attack that was carried out on October 7 last year in occupied Israel.
