Bashundhara Kings, who continue to dominate domestic football, have made a big announcement before the start of the new season. Argentine Roberto Carlos Mario Gomez is set to take over as the team's new head coach.
Gomez, 68, previously coached the Malaysian national team. His success includes leading Johor Darul Ta'zim to the AFC Cup in 2015. He also led the team to the Super League, FA Cup and Charity Shield in the same season.
Apart from Malaysia, he served as head coach at various clubs in Argentina, Greece, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. Gomez started coaching as an assistant to Hector Cuper at the Lanus club in Argentina. Then he went to Europe and worked with Cuper at Mallorca, Valencia and Inter Milan. During that time, he had experience working with world-class stars like Ronaldo, Crespo, Vieri and Zanetti.
Mario Gomez was a formidable defender during his playing career, winning the Argentine league title in 1982 and 1984 with Ferro Carril West.
