Questions have been raised about Mehedi Hasan Miraz's leadership skills in the ODI team even before the end of the third series. Those involved in the national team feel that bringing him to lead the Test team there could be counterproductive. However, a section of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors have expressed their opinion in favor of returning the leadership of the Test team to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. They have given their opinion to BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul. It is learnt that Board President Aminul Islam Bulbul has taken the directors' opinion seriously. A director said that the president may take a decision in this regard today after returning from Australia.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto originally did not want to captain in one version. When announcing his resignation after the Test series in Colombo, he highlighted the negative aspects of being a captain in one version.
The left-handed batsman said, "It would have been right to captain the ODI team along with the Tests. Because, there is a matter of adapting to the players. I hope that whoever the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) keeps, they will keep him in charge of both Tests and ODIs. This makes it easier to run the team."
If Shanto's request is accepted, Miraj should be given the Test captaincy. The reality is that Miraj's leadership has been questioned. That is why the BCB does not want to take the risk. On the contrary, the discussion is that Miraj would do well to leave the leadership of the ODI team and focus on his own game. The reality is that the captain will not be chosen based on the wishes of the fans or the cricketers. In this case, the wishes of BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul are the last word.
