Tabith Awal, a former footballer and former vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFUF), has been elected as the president. He got 123 votes in the election. His rival Dinajpur football coach Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury got 5 votes. 128 out of 133 councilors voted. Chief Election Commissioner Mezbahuddin gave an official speech by announcing the number of votes of the President.
Since 1998 election system started in sports. SA Sultan is the first elected president of Bafuf. Kazi Salahuddin was second. This legendary footballer was the president of Buff for 4 terms. This time he did not participate in the election. Tabith is Buff's third president-elect. However, he received the most votes.
