Bangladesh have won a historic T20 series in Sri Lanka. Tanjid Tamim's blistering fifty helped Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the third and final T20 of the three-match series, taking the series 2-1. Although Sri Lanka has previously won Test or ODI matches, this is the first time they have won a series in any format.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field in the series-deciding match at the Pallekele Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. The Tigers kept the Sri Lankans within reach with excellent bowling. Sri Lanka, who lost two wickets in the first two overs, eventually scored 132 for 7. In reply, Bangladesh lost their wicket with the first ball of the innings, but opener Tanjid Tamim and Liton Das, who came out on three, put on a 74-run partnership to take the team to victory.
