Bangladesh's brilliant T20 series ended in a complete disaster in the final match of the series. Needing 179 runs in the final match of the three-match series against Pakistan, however, Liton Das' team collapsed early and were all out for 104 runs. However, having already clinched the series by winning the first two matches, the Tigers will have no shortage of celebrations to celebrate the series win.
Despite missing out on a win in the final match of the series, Bangladesh have clinched the three-match T20 series 2-1. The hosts lost the third and final T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium by a huge margin of 74 runs. But Liton Das' team secured the series with a dominant performance in the previous two matches.
Bangladesh won the toss and sent Pakistan into bat. The visitors started playing aggressively from the start on a two-pace wicket that was not conducive to batting. Sahibzada Farhan's brilliant half-century (52 runs) and effective cameo innings from Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz helped Pakistan post a challenging 178 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh produced another classic example of a batting disaster. Tanjid Hasan was dismissed on the second ball of the innings. Then Liton, Miraj, Zaker, Mehedi—everyone—went back one by one. The Tigers were effectively out of the match after losing 5 wickets for 25 runs in 4.4 overs. They lost 6 wickets in the powerplay, after which there was no chance of recovery.
Mohammad Saifuddin tried to take the lead at one end. Although he was unbeaten on 35 runs off 34 balls, his innings was used only to reduce the gap. Bangladesh scored only 104 runs in the entire innings, being all out in 16.4 overs.
Pakistan's bowling attack was very diverse. Salman Mirza was the most successful - he took 3 wickets for just 20 runs in 4 overs. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz also took 2 wickets each. The Babar-less Pakistan team kept the match under control by maintaining a perfect bowling impression from start to finish.
However, it is believed that this loss will not be a major blow to Bangladesh's confidence. They will want to move forward with the positive aspects gained from the series win and the performance of the youngsters towards the upcoming series.
