US President Donald Trump has made explosive comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that Putin has deceived four US presidents, including Bill Clinton, George Bush, Obama, and Biden, but "couldn't deceive me."
This information was reported by TRT World in a report on Tuesday (July 15).
The media outlet says Trump made the remarks during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House on Monday local time, where he detailed arms aid to Ukraine, Putin's role, and US foreign policy.
Trump said, "This war is not mine, it's Biden's war. I'm trying to get America out of this war. This is not a Republican war or a Trump war. This war should not have happened, it should not have happened."
Trump gave Russia a 50-day ultimatum today. The US Republican president warned Russia, "If Russia does not stop the war in Ukraine within the next 50 days, we will impose major new economic sanctions."
He added, "I'm disappointed in Putin. I thought there would be a deal two months ago. But it didn't happen."
During the meeting, Trump and NATO chief Mark Rutte announced that NATO would now buy billions of dollars worth of weapons from the United States. These weapons will include the 'Patriot' missile defense system. These weapons will then be sent to Ukraine.
"This deal is very big. It won't cost the United States much, and European countries are also helping," Rutte said.
Germany, Canada, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom have agreed to purchase weapons and provide assistance to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, after taking office for his second term as president, Trump tried to improve relations with Putin, as he had said during the election campaign that he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. But after a few days, Trump became angry.
Because instead of stopping the war, Putin has launched record-breaking missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. Ukraine has also stepped up its counterattacks on the Russian mainland. Trump said, “I go home, I tell Melania, ‘I had a great conversation with Putin today.’ She says, ‘Really? A city just got bombed.’”
He added, "I'm not saying Putin is a murderer, but he is a tough person."
