In fact, the capital's residents did not get clean air even for a single day in December.

Today, Munich, Germany, tops the world in terms of air pollution with a score of 419, followed by Pristina, Kosovo, with a score of 279.

Among other divisional cities of the country today, the air quality in Chittagong is 148, in Rajshahi 168, and in Khulna 166.

Today, the three most polluted areas in and around Dhaka are Eastern Housing-2 (283), the US Embassy area in Dhaka (252), and Kalyanpur (237).

The main component of Dhaka's air pollution is the presence of particulate matter, or PM 2.5, in the air. Today, its presence in Dhaka's air is 27 times higher than the World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
