Delhi Police has arrested a man for allegedly slapping and physically abusing Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her residence. The incident took place at the Chief Minister's official residence in Delhi's Civil Lines area on Wednesday morning.
In a report, Indian media outlet Firstpost reported that on Wednesday morning, a 'Jan Sunwai' or public grievance hearing session was going on at the Chief Minister's residence. At that time, a man aged between 30 and 35 approached Rekha Gupta and handed her a piece of paper, and then slapped her hard and grabbed her by the hair. At that time, he was shouting and abusing the Chief Minister.
Some papers were recovered from the attacker. It is not known what was written on them, but sources said that the papers he gave to the Chief Minister before the attack and the papers recovered from him are related to the court.
Indian media INS reported that the man slapped Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and grabbed her hair, and also hit her on the head with a heavy object. The BJP has also made the same allegation. BJP's Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdev strongly condemned the incident.
Delhi Police did not mention the name of the arrested person.
