Five people have been killed in a helicopter crash in India. According to a report by Indian media NDTV, five people have been killed after a helicopter taking off from Kedarnath Dham crashed into a forest.
The Aryan Aviation helicopter was heading from Guptkashi to Kedarnath Dham. The helicopter crashed about 10 minutes after takeoff in the area between Gaurikund and Sonprayag.
The helicopter crashed at 5:20 am local time on Sunday (June 15, 2025). The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Department Authority (UCADA) said that there were seven people on board the helicopter, including the pilot, at the time of the accident. Six of them were pilgrims, including a child.
The pilgrims hailed from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the accident in a post on social media. He expressed grief over the incident.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but it is believed to have been caused by mechanical failure and bad weather.
