Three police officers, including the officer-in-charge (OC) Nazrul Islam, were injured in an ambush by a young man named Abdur Razzak Fahim who entered the Pallabi Police Station in the capital. Police have arrested four people, including the attacker, in the incident.
The incident took place in the room of the duty officer of Pallabi Police Station at around 1:45 am on Monday (March 10).
The injured are Pallabi Police Station OC Nazrul Islam, Second Officer Shariful Islam and ASI (Armed) Md. Nasir.
Confirming the matter, OC Nazrul Islam said that shortly before 2 am, a young man named Abdur Razzak Fahim came to the police station and reported that a murder had taken place in the area.
When I said I was not aware of such an incident, the young man said, "Why are you hiding this? Your duty officer knows."
Then I took the young man to the duty officer's room. There, other service seekers also said that they were not aware of such an incident.
The OC said, "Later, when I asked the identity of the young man, he expressed reluctance. Then, when I tried to take him by the hand, he suddenly started punching me. Then, when ASI Nasir came to stop him, the young man broke one of his fingers. He also punched the second officer on the forehead. Later, we arrested him."
He said, after being arrested, the young man said that there were three more people in a car outside. Later, when they were questioned, they said that they had come from Gazipur. They also said that they had gone out for a walk at night. Later, we brought the three to the police station. The attacker, Abdur Razzak Fahim, lives in Gazipur.
He further said, "After this incident, the three of us went to Kurmitola Hospital. There, an X-ray of ASI Md. Nasir's hand was found to be broken."
He also said that preparations are underway to file a case in this incident.
