Like desert country Saudi Arabia, another Middle Eastern country, Kuwait, has also reached the point of freezing due to an unprecedented cold wave. In a country that experiences extremely hot weather most of the year, the temperature in Kuwait has now dropped to minus 3 degrees Celsius.
This information was given in the latest bulletin of the Kuwait Meteorological Department on Tuesday. The bulletin also said that the cold is especially prevalent in rural and desert areas. Quoting the Meteorological Department, Kuwaiti media reported that since Monday, the temperature in this country with an area of only 17,818 square kilometers has been fluctuating from minus 3 degrees Celsius to minus 6 degrees Celsius. In addition to widespread cold winds blowing across the country, snowfall has also been reported in various places.
Kuwait's weather is currently under an extended high-pressure system, said Dahrar Al Ali, executive director of the Kuwait Meteorological Department, to Gulf News. The high-pressure system is the result of the interaction between the upper atmosphere's cooling and the temperate winds coming from the southwest. He attributed the current cold front to the high-pressure system. Dahrar Al Ali
The cold wave is unlikely to end anytime soon. Dahrar Al Ali said the cold wave will continue until next Friday. Temperatures will start to rise gradually after Friday.
Incidentally, a cold wave has also begun in Kuwait's neighboring country, Saudi Arabia. Temperatures in many parts of that country have also dropped to minus 3 degrees.
