Chhatra Dal and NCP rally in the capital today, DMP issues special instructions on traffic

Traffic restrictions will be imposed in the Shahbagh area from Sunday morning to evening as large crowds are expected to gather in the capital's Shahbagh, Central Shaheed Minar and Suhrawardy Udyan areas for several political and cultural programs, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.

A public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali said that there is a risk of traffic congestion in Shahbagh and surrounding areas due to the 'Student Rally' of Chhatra Dal at Shahbagh intersection, the public rally demanding the 'July Declaration and Charter' at the Central Shaheed Minar of NCP, and the 'July Jagran' program at Suhrawardy Udyan of Saimum Shilpi Gosthi. In addition, the police have announced a diversion plan to avoid public inconvenience as the HSC exam is on that day.

As a result, it will not be possible to move traffic through that area, especially through Shahbagh crossing. In this situation, Dhaka residents have been requested to follow the diversion and use alternative routes.

A 'student rally' will be held at Shahbagh intersection on Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm, under the initiative of Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal, to mark the first anniversary of the July-August mass uprising, mourning and victory.

The National Citizens Party (NCP) will hold a public meeting at Dhaka Central Shaheed Minar from 4 pm to 6 pm demanding the 'July Declaration and Charter'. The NCP has informed that the meeting was scheduled to take place at 3 pm, but considering the inconvenience to the SSC candidates, the meeting will be held at 4 pm, an hour later.

The cultural fest 'Julai Jagran' is being held on July 36 at Suhrawardy Udyan from 10 am to 10 pm every day (August 1-4) under the initiative of Saimum Shilpi Gosthi. HSC and BCS exams will also be held at various centers in Dhaka on Sunday.

Diversion point and alternative road
Hotel Intercontinental intersection: Vehicles coming from the north via Sonargaon Signal/Bangla Motor Crossing will take a left turn at Hotel Intercontinental Crossing and travel via Hair Road/Mintu Road instead of going straight towards Shahbagh.

Kataban Intersection: Vehicles coming from the west via Science Lab Crossing will not go towards Shahbagh from Kataban Intersection, but will turn right and go through Nilkhet/Palashi or turn left from Kataban Intersection to Sonargaon (Hatirpul) Road and proceed via Bangla Motor Link Road.

Matsya Bhavan Intersection: Vehicles coming through High Court/Kadam Foara Crossing will not go towards Shahbagh from Matsya Bhavan but will proceed straight through Hair Road/Shaheed Captain Mansur Ali Sarani (Moghbazar Road).

On the other hand, vehicles coming from the north via Kakrail Mosque Crossing will not go towards Shahbagh from Matsyabhaban Crossing but will go straight towards Gulistan/Dhaka University via the High Court.

TSC/Raju Bhaskarya: Vehicles coming from Nilkhet Crossing/Doyel Chattar Crossing will proceed via Doyel Chattar/Nilkhet Crossing instead of going towards Shahbagh when arriving at TST/Raju Bhaskarya Crossing.

In addition, the police have requested that people avoid the roads adjacent to Shaheed Minar and the entrance to Suhrawardy Udyan as much as possible.

For this reason, the public notice has requested Dhaka residents, especially HSC and BCS examinees, to leave for the examination center with sufficient time.
