70 Bangladeshis have returned from Lebanon due to the ongoing war situation. 338 people have returned from the country in seven phases.
This information was given in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (November 4).
It said that they were brought back to the country with the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, Bangladesh Embassy, Beirut, Lebanon and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Among the stranded Bangladeshis willing to return home voluntarily from war-torn Lebanon, 70 Bangladeshi nationals were repatriated to Bangladesh today on Emirates Airlines flight EK-584 at full government expense.
All these repatriated Bangladeshi citizens were welcomed at the airport by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment and IOM.
Each repatriate from Lebanon is provided pocket money of 5 thousand rupees, some food items and basic medical treatment by the IOM. Foreign Ministry Director Mustafa Jamil Khan spoke to the returning Bangladeshis at the airport about the horrors of the war and inquired about them.
